The communications and digital revolution we experienced at the beginning of the 21st century, with the emergence of the Internet as a global communications network and the gradual replacement of traditional media as sources of information and social interaction, could not be understood without the invention and popularization of smartphones in the last twenty years. Mobile phones have significantly transformed the way we access information and interact with the world, especially among young people.
In this context, the US’MOV project (Youth and Mobile Phones in the Classroom: Discourses and Dynamics of Prohibition, Promotion, and Indetermination) emerged. Funded by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación and Agencia Estatal de Investigación (PID2019-108041RB-I00), it was implemented from June 2020 to December 2023.
The main objective of US’MOV was to identify and analyze the discourses, practices, and positions of educational administrations, teachers, young people, families, and companies in the field regarding the use of mobile phones in compulsory secondary education centers in Spain.
This book consists of eleven chapters that follow the logical and chronological order of the different phases, actions, and reflections of the US’MOV project, resulting from the analysis of discourses, practices, and positions regarding the challenges posed by the use of mobile phones in education.
