Social media and other digital platforms have, in many cases, become spaces where misogynistic discourse, anti-feminist narratives and models of masculinity circulate, reinforcing inequalities and making educational intervention more difficult.
FEM-EDU responds to the need to prepare future education professionals to recognise these dynamics and address them from a pedagogical, critical and transformative perspective. In particular, the project focuses on anti-feminist backlash, cybermasculinities and the forms of gender-based violence that shape young people’s digital cultures.
Objective
The project aims to improve the initial training of education professionals so that they are able to prevent, identify and address gender-based violence in the digital ecosystem through educational practice.
Methodology
FEM-EDU is structured as a longitudinal training process that combines classroom work with spaces for co-creation, mentoring, evaluation and knowledge transfer. Its methodological design integrates Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) and Design Thinking, two approaches that enable participants to analyse current issues, formulate educational responses and develop proposals that can be applied in different socio-educational contexts.
The project also develops the LabCritiCom (Critical Communication Laboratory), conceived as a space for training and knowledge transfer. The laboratory brings together the production of an interdisciplinary podcast, the design of educational resources and the creation of diverse educational narratives.
The methodology incorporates a feminist and intersectional perspective throughout, taking into account the relationships between gender, age, origin, social class, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability and digital cultures.
The evaluation combines initial and final questionnaires, participant observation, discussion groups with students and the analysis of the prototypes developed by them.
